Paisley, who has Deplorable Potty Habits, needed a bath before entering any place of worship.  Or interacting with anyone, really.  If she looks a little desperate here, it’s because she hates baths.

Every time we bathe a hedgehog, we end up with this picture.

June really didn’t need a bath so much as just a little clean up, so we didn’t do the full suds-and-soap route.

What did I say about always ending up with this shot?

The girls, once clean, dried, and snug, are packed into the basket I usually use for the farmer’s market with a bunch of blankets to hide in.

They made quite the impression with the St. Nicholas Choir.  June is up and curious and Paisley is pretending to be invisible.

Everyone wanted to say hello to the hedgehogs.  Paisley did not want to say hello back.

I thought it would be a cute photo to get June posing with the bulletin.  June had other ideas.

June was almost too wiggly to photograph.

I am a sucker for a good live oak canopy.

Tons of birds at Pinckney Island — great blue and little blue herons, snowy, cattle, and great egrets, ibis, moorhens, soras, bluebirds, kingfishers, and more.  The egrets and ibises have staked out one particular pond as their rookery.

Most of these are juvenile white ibis.

White ibis don’t become fully white until they’re out of their juvenile phase.  I love them.  They’re slightly awkward looking birds.

And, as would be expected in a good South Carolina wetlands, alligators of the large and small variety:

Chopper and I wandered up to Marion Square, the biggest park in downtown Charleston.  It was gorgeous with the snow coming down like mad.  This had all accumulated in about 45 minutes to an hour.

We went into downtown Chimney Rock on Saturday.  I love random signage.

For our first weekly photo, I’ll start with (naturally) Paisley. It’s been ridiculously cold, and while she has been quite comfortable through the entire business, she has taken to burrowing quite extensively in her blankets. Today, I found her with her fabric hat tipped over so she was in it like a little teacup, with her blankets all pulled down around her. Quite sensible, actually.

We spent the day at Middleton Place and saw a grand total of fifteen young alligator, with this one being the most photogenic of the lot. Other photos are on Flickr – too many to post here.
