Eclipse photos

It was cloudy here, but fortunately, there were enough breaks in the clouds to photograph the eclipse. I’ve got my sequence of photos online for your perusal. I do wish I’d seen this article on photographing the eclipse beforehand, but I actually did most of the things they recommended anyway. The tripod was invaluable, as was the remote shutter for my Nikon for long exposures.

My favorite of the lot: the glorious display of the eclipse at totality with Saturn, Regulus, and some other heavenly bodies visible around it. It doesn’t look like much in the thumbnail view, of course.

I haven’t forgotten about the photo a day project although I am behind in posting them. I promise I have a photo for every day. :)

The eclipse will begin around 8:45 PM tonight, with totality between 10-11 PM and ending just after midnight. If your skies are clear – go out and see it!

Weather permitting, I’ll have photos tomorrow. My tripod and my 200mm lens are ready.

The weather forecast says “partly cloudy” for Wednesday night, but I’m hoping for some clear viewing of the full lunar eclipse.  My tripod and my 200mm lens are ready.

Mergansers!

It’s been a long-standing joke between Chopper and me that I can’t get a photo of a hooded merganser to save my life.  I see them fairly frequently, but they are fast swimmers and are very good at eluding me.  Today, when I spotted five of them in Alberta Long Lake, I had to stop and try to get some shots.

Happy V-Day

Since I was slack about posting, I’ll do double duty today. First, sunset from the parking lot at work. Sony Cybershot DSC-P10, ISO 400, f2.8, 1/250, 7.9 mm.

It was a gorgeous, clear night after the sun went down, and I couldn’t resist taking another shot at the moon.  Nikon D70, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/1000, 200 mm.  I’m going to have to get out the tripod and try some star photography — or at least Mars, which is pretty bright right now.
