I love a good piece of writing, and this blurb about the death of Clippy, the much-hated Microsoft Office paperclip, cracked me up.

I really spent entirely too much time staring at my screen saver now … and I blame my brother. Devin had a very cool looking and hypnotic screen saver at Christmas. It’s an open source screen saver called Electric Sheep. It continually downloads updates and new “sheep” (video elements). You can press the up or down buttons to vote for or against sheep. The shot to the left is a vote for the lovely “sheep” on the screen.

So, here’s an average night at home with the Johnsons.

Me: “Ooooh, a cool sheep!” Votes.
A few minutes later.
Me: “Ooooh, a cool sheep!” Votes again. Chopper giggles.
A few minutes later.
Me: “Ooooh, a cool sheep!” Votes yet again.
A few seconds later.
Me: “Oooh, a …” and Chopper smacks me with a pillow.

It’s all Devin’s fault.
