Snowy photos, part two

The snow was gone by midday, but my husband and I got out and played in it this morning, and naturally, I took my camera.  For those of you laughing at us with our tiny snowfall (around 3″ at the airport, for the record), it’s the fourth highest recorded snowfall in Charleston ever.  There is a reason we get so excited about this stuff.  The rest of the photos are available at Flickr.

I didn’t take the Nikon out in the heavy, rather wet snow we got last night but my cell phone did pretty good.  I’m setting my alarm for early in the morning and I’m hoping to shoot some before everything melts tomorrow.

Chopper and I wandered up to Marion Square, the biggest park in downtown Charleston.  It was gorgeous with the snow coming down like mad.  This had all accumulated in about 45 minutes to an hour.

To the Bat Cave!

We took a long weekend trip to Bat Cave, NC, up in the Hickory Nut Gorge. I can’t recommend the house (Creekside Mountain Retreat, privately rented) enough if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay.

We went into downtown Chimney Rock on Saturday.  I love random signage.

It's true, too

I love signs

South Carolina Bird of Prey Center, originally uploaded by scpetrel.

Chopper and I went out to the Center for Birds of Prey just north of town (well worth a visit if you’re in the Charleston area!) and here’s my official photo of the week. This gorgeous lady was greeting visitors with her handler at the entrance to the center grounds. I can’t remember what kind of hawk she is, sadly.
